3.0L V6 BITURBO ENGINE
Generating 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, the 3.0L V6 combines twin turbos and numerous other advances to lower emissions and fuel consumption while increasing performance. In a single millisecond, the rapid-multispark ignition can fire up to four times, while the high-pressure Direct Injection precisely tunes the ultrafine fuel spray. A lightweight diecast-alloy block, widely variable valve timing, reduced friction, and clever “on-demand” ancillary components further boost efficiency.
An ECO-START®/STOP system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO-START®/STOP system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
4MATIC® ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

With its industry-leading Car-to-X Communication, every new E-Class can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from detected wheelspin to the use of hazard flashers or even windshield wipers. The system can then alert other drivers with Car-to-X via in-dash displays or announcements, allowing precautions to be taken before reaching the hazard.
ACTIVE BRAKE ASSIST
Radar-based technology can alert you if you’re approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a new dashboard display.
A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
For a better view of what’s behind your vehicle when reversing, a high-resolution camera displays a live view on the central in-dash screen. Steering-dependent active guidelines on the screen help you back into a parking space, and you can select between wide-angle and even wider 180-degree views.
9-WAY airbag PROTECTION
An advanced system of 7 airbags offers 9-way occupant protection. Dual two-stage front airbags, combined thorax/pelvic bags for driver and front passenger, a driver’s knee airbag, and side curtain airbags for both seating rows are standard.
ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
The ANTI LOCK Braking System (ABS) senses impending wheel lockup under heavy braking, and pumps the front brakes individually or the rear brakes together up to 30 times per second. By preventing wheel lockup, ABS helps preserve the driver’s steering ability during hard braking.
